About

Hello, Welcome to my little baking business, Petites Souris Bakery.

I am an avid baker, with a passion for food that tastes incredible above all else. I bake from scratch and always stand behind what I produce.

Keep an eye on the homepage for events I'll be attending and what's up next!

Thanks for stopping by, I look forward to baking for you!

More about me...

I was born and raised on the West Coast; Nanaimo to be exact. Funny that most people don't know how to pronounce Nanaimo until you put the word "bar" after it... My parents owned a coffee shop from 2006 - 2022 and I worked there for many years, getting my start in the hospitality industry.

I have loved baking for as long as I can remember and I grew up in a from-scratch household so that's how I've always baked. I have a lot of recipes that have been passed down, some new ones I have found in recent years, and lots that I have created or tweaked to be my own.

This is the year I am finally taking the plunge and starting up my own little bakery, with the hope of one day having a brick and mortar store. For now, find me at all sorts of markets and pop ups.

More about the name...

Petites Souris is pronounced /puh-teet soo-ree/ but throw a french "r" in there if you can. If you stopped French class in grade 10, we won't blame you if your pronunciation doesn't have that french flair.

Petites Souris is french for little mice, and to most non-francophones, sounds similar to the french word patisserie, meaning pastries and sweets.

The french version of the tooth fairy is La Petite Souris, the little mouse.

My husband and I found two little mice one summer that had been separated from their family so we raised them (yes, we know we're a bit crazy) and gave them the most lavish life two mice could ever live.

*Should there be an article in front of <<petites souris>> ? Yes. But c'est la vie!
